A one-year longitudinal, prospective study, COVIPACT, scrutinized French patients with solid and hematological malignancies receiving treatment during the initial nationwide lockdown in France. Utilizing the Impact of Event Scale-Revised, PTSS were monitored every three months, starting the process in April 2020. Regarding their quality of life, cognitive concerns, sleeplessness, and the COVID-19 lockdown, patients also completed questionnaires.
Longitudinal analysis focused on 386 patients who had at least one post-baseline PTSD assessment. The median age of these patients was 63 years, and the proportion of females was 76%. Of those surveyed, 215% experienced moderate to severe PTSD during the initial lockdown period. Patients reporting PTSS experienced a 136% decrease upon the first lockdown release, only to see a significant 232% increase with the implementation of the second lockdown. The methodology of this study utilized Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to map the locations of mid-2020's bulk bulking-only medical practices, subsequently integrating this data with population data. Analysis of population data and practice locations was conducted at the Statistical Areas Level 2 (SA2) region level, leveraging the most recent census data.
In the study, medical practice locations exclusively offering bulk billing numbered 2095. For areas relying solely on bulk billing practices, the nationwide average Population-to-Practice (PtP) ratio is 1 practice per 8529 people. Importantly, 574 percent of the Australian population resides in an SA2 area that has at least one bulk-billing-only medical practice available.
