To provide a foundation to write the caregiver narrative, we drew upon Arthur Frank’s story types in his book The Wounded Storyteller, specifically the chaos narrative [42]. The first step of the analysis was thus to code the content of the journals into the three narrative categories. The second step of the analysis was to conduct a thematic analysis of the journal entries within each of the three narrative categories (event, experience and evaluation).
